Agencia AJN.- The president of the AMIA, Agustín Zbar, affirmed today to the AJN Agency that “deny the historical truth about 3000 years of Jerusalem as capital of the Hebrew Nation is objectively unacceptable”, before the announcement that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, will recognize the city as the Israeli capital today.

Zbar highlight that “some repeat slogans because of ignorance or ideology, others because they express a modern anti-Semitism disguised as progressivism”, in reference to those who reject the modification of the status quo of Jerusalem.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to learn and think again: only the truth helps the peace process”, Zbar said about those who believe that the US measure could increase tensions in the Middle East.

Finally, he said that “in terms of political opinions, you do not need to want Trump to recognize the justice of this decision”.

According to sources of the White House, Trump announced today his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, although it will delay the move of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem for “logistical reasons.”

For the Wiesenthal Center, Maduro’s comments are “ridiculous”

AJN.- This was expressed by the director of the Jerusalem office of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Efraim Zuroff, in an exclusive interview with the AJN Agency, following recent Maduro´s comments: “Chavistas are the Jews of the 21st century”.

After Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro equaled the recent repudiation of Chavez’s officials living or working abroad with the persecution that killed millions of people in the 20th century, the Simon Wiesenthal Center did not delay its response.

The Jerusalem office director, Efraim Zuroff, said in an exclusive interview with the AJN Agency, that the comments of the Venezuelan president are “ridiculous”. Earlier, the director said that today in the world there is a “resurgence of anti-Semitism,” and highlighted the recent events in Venezuela.

The Venezuelan president said yesterday in a council of ministers transmitted by the state-owned television station VTV, that the Chavistas are “the new Jews of the XXI Century … We do not wear the yellow star of David, we carry the red heart of desire to fight for human dignity and we are going to defeat the Nazis of the XXI Century”.

The president referred to protests which have occurred in recent weeks against officials and former officials of Chavismo, and their relatives, who live or work abroad. Protests have increased and, so far, have left 42 dead in acts of violence of which the government and the opposition hold each other accountable.

On the other hand, Maduro once again accused the opposition of making “terrorism” as part of a plan to give him a coup that is orchestrated by the United States government. In addition, he accused Julio Borges, president of Parliament – the only power controlled by the opposition – to hold meetings
“with the highest representatives in charge of the military apparatus” of that country.

The opposition, meanwhile, accuses the government of instituting a “dictatorship” and the military and police of a “wild repression.”
